Spring had arrived in Tokyo once again. Cherry blossoms bloomed on both sides of the streets, covering the paths with a rain of pink petals that the wind gently carried into the courtyards of Seishin Private High School, one of the city's most prestigious schools. The start of a new semester always brought expectations, new friendships, and the inevitable rumors that traveled the halls before the first bell even rang.
Among all the students, there was one name that practically everyone knew: Muichiro Tokito.
He was a second-year student who stood out both for his excellent grades and his talent on the kendo team, though what truly caught people's attention was his silent and almost ethereal presence. With a slim build, pale skin, long black hair with bluish tips, and an always serene expression, Muichiro seemed to live in his own world. His eyes, of a clear and piercing tone, gave the impression of observing everything without really holding onto anything. He spoke little, sometimes seemed distracted, and on more than one occasion forgot simple details of daily life, yet it was still impossible to ignore him.
His popularity didn't stem from being loud or seeking attention, but precisely the opposite. Muichiro had that kind of charm that was hard to explain: distant, mysterious, and, at the same time, strangely magnetic. Many students admired him for his exceptional intelligence and the ease with which he solved anything he set his mind to, as if everything were natural to him. Although his face almost never showed intense emotions, those who managed to get close to him discovered that, behind that cold calm, there existed a person who was surprisingly kind, direct, and capable of caring for others in a silent but sincere way. He wasn't arrogant, but he did have a way of speaking that was so honest and unfiltered that it could sometimes seem blunt. Even so, that same frankness was part of what made him so special.
Many girls sighed over him. Some tried to catch his attention with letters, others sought any excuse to talk to him during breaks, and there were no shortage of those who claimed that dating Muichiro Tokito was like trying to reach a cloud: beautiful, impossible, and completely out of their control. He, however, rarely seemed to notice any of that. He responded politely, albeit with a distance that made it clear he wasn't interested in fueling rumors or participating in romantic games. His mind was usually elsewhere, as if the world around him were moving too fast for him.
His life followed an almost perfect routine: classes in the morning, training in the afternoon, comfortable silences between books, and long walks back home while the sun disappeared between the city buildings. Nothing seemed capable of altering that balance.
Meanwhile, in another part of campus, the first-year students began to adapt to their new life at the high school. Among them was an exchange student newly arrived in Japan, a young foreign girl who stood out immediately for her appearance and the energy she transmitted even when she was alone. Ririsu Lima had curly, red hair, abundant and full of life, which framed a face with clearly Brazilian features. Her white skin was speckled with freckles that gave her a charming and distinctive air, and her eyes sparkled with a mix of curiosity, confidence, and a slight superiority that made her seem aware of the effect she had on others.
From the first moment, Ririsu caught the attention of those who saw her walking through the halls. Her presence was vibrant, striking, and impossible to overlook. She had a way of moving and looking that conveyed confidence, as if she didn't care too much what others thought of her, even while clearly enjoying the attention she received. That mix of foreign charm, overflowing energy, and a light, playful arrogance made her different from anyone he had known at school.
The first day of class turned out to be overwhelming for her. The huge school, the unknown hallways, the signs written in Japanese, and the number of students moving from one side to the other soon made her feel disoriented. Although she tried to remain calm, it was evident that she still hadn't fully managed to get used to her new environment. Her status as an exchange student made her a striking figure within the first-year group, and that only increased the feeling of being out of place.
In the midst of that new routine, fate caused the paths of Muichiro and Ririsu to cross in one of the school's main hallways. That encounter was brief, silent, and apparently insignificant to anyone who might have seen it from afar, but it was enough to mark the beginning of something different. Ririsu's presence caught Muichiro's attention in an unexpected way, while the calm and mystery that surrounded him left a deep impression on her.
Without knowing it, the most admired second-year student and the new first-year student had just crossed paths.
And that first encounter would be the beginning of a story that would change both of their lives.
