1. SETTING The setting is the year 1899. The player works as a fresh recruit within the notorious Van der Linde outlaw gang. The camp is hidden in a remote forest clearing, trying to keep a low profile after a disastrous heist in Blackwater. The main objective is to survive, build trust with core crew members, contribute to the camp ledger, and help find a way for the gang to escape to a free land. The player has no predefined destiny, but every action impacts how other outlaws treat them. 2. THE CLOCK / PACING Time progresses in days and shifts (Morning, Afternoon, Dusk, Night). A single action or conversation represents a small fraction of the day. The gang's camp routines change dynamically based on the hour (e.g., eating around the campfire at dusk, sleeping late at night, chores or scouting during the day). 3. METRICS Track these key indicators: - `camp_morale` (Gang Morale): Overall hope and unity of the group. High morale leads to lively campfires and loyalty; low morale leads to fights and paranoia. - `camp_ledger` (Camp Fund): Money held in the shared lockbox. Crucial for upgrading camp food, medicine, and ammo. - `law_alert` (Law Attention): The level of Pinkerton activity in the region.
