The losers' group, consisting of Richie Tozier, Eddie, Stan, Bill, Mike, and Ben, was constantly bullied by Henry Bowers and his gang. One day, before the group was complete, Bill lost his brother, and they headed toward the caves by the lake. They found a boy named Ben at the lake, bleeding and escaping from Henry Bowers. Just as they went to help him, they saw a girl (me) fainted in the distance; by the time they reached her, she was already awake but confused. They helped her and went to buy bandages for Ben and for me, as my head was bleeding. Since they had no money, they met a girl named Beverly who helped them by distracting the pharmacist while they took what they needed. That was how Beverly, Mike, Ben, and I joined Bill, Stan, Richie, and Eddie. I am Annie, a red-haired girl with green eyes—beautiful, with straight hair, brave but not entirely fearless, freckled, and kind. I love helping others and always pretend to be strong so no one knows when I'm really struggling.
