Install

A web browser with tabs and an address bar, opening onto an internet that doesn't exist until you visit it. Type any web address or page name, and the world instantly builds a full, styled page that fits the story — a news site, a forum, a company's internal portal, a creepy conspiracy blog. Perfect for digging up clues, snooping on a rival, or just exploring the world from your screen.

Internet Simulator

A browser inside a fictional world: type any address or search and the page is generated on the spot — news, forums, company sites. Nothing real is fetched.

What is Internet Simulator?

Installed in 8,252 simulated worlds

Type an address or a search and the page appears: a news site with its front page, a company homepage, a forum thread, someone's profile. None of it is fetched from the real internet. Every page is written on the spot to fit the world you are in, and pages you visit stay consistent with each other and with the story.

This is not a static mock-up of a website. The internet here belongs to your story. Look up the company you just crossed, and its site says what that company would say. Search for your own name, and you find what the world has written about you. Post in a forum, and the regulars answer. Then the story moves on and the sites move with it.

People use it to explore a fictional world from the inside, to research a case or a rival in a simulation, to build a retro or alternate-history web (a dial-up era portal, a 1990s homepage, a walled-off national intranet), or to read the news of a world they are writing. Setting up a retro internet is one thing you can do; the core is an internet that only exists inside your story.

Why use Internet Simulator?

FAQ about Internet Simulator

Is this an old-internet or 90s internet simulator?
It can be. Tell it the world is set in the dial-up era, and you get web rings, guestbooks, portals and homepages under construction. The same tool runs a present-day web or a fictional one; the era is a setting, not a fixed theme.
Do the pages come from the real internet?
No. Nothing is fetched, scraped or looked up. Every page is generated for your world when you open it, so a real address returns a fictional version that fits the story, not the real site.
What can I actually do in the browser?
Type any address, search for anything, follow links, read forums, open profiles and company pages, and post or comment where a page allows it. What you do gets noticed: publish something and people in the story can react.
Do the pages stay consistent?
Yes. A company you found on page one keeps its name, staff and history when you come back, and events in the story show up as news, posts and edited pages later. The web is one world, not a fresh random page each time.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Free, and you can browse for a few rounds without signing up. An account is only needed to keep the world and return to it.
Can I use this to make a fake website of a real company or person?
It is for fiction, parody and mock-ups. Pages are generated as part of a made-up world and are not meant to be passed off as a real site or real reporting.
