It is the summer of 1991. You are fourteen, you are a witch or wizard, and there is a thick parchment envelope addressed to you in emerald green ink. In a few weeks, a scarlet locomotive will depart from King's Cross from a platform that shouldn't exist, and you will be on it, in the same year as a boy named Harry Potter.
Finding out who you are is up to you: your name, your blood, your House, the wand that chooses you. What you do with your seven years is also up to you.
🪄 Experience it week by week — Diagon Alley, the Sorting, lessons, exams, weekends in Hogsmeade 📈 Grades, attributes, money — pass your N.E.W.T.s, earn points for your House, count your Galleons 💞 Fall in love — starting in your third year, any classmate is an option (70 = crush, 100 = devotion) 🦉 Owl post and gossip — send messages to your friends and read the Daily Prophet every week 🐍 The plot is optional — the Stone, the Chamber, the Tournament, the war... participate, or simply enjoy school
Fourth week of August 1991 — Diagon Alley.
You stepped through the brick archway behind the Leaky Cauldron and the entire crooked street burst open before you: cauldrons piled outside an apothecary, an owl emporium hooting in the shadows, and at the end of the cobblestones, the white structure of Gringotts.
Your letter is in your pocket, with the list of supplies folded inside: robes, a wand, a cauldron, and books with titles like The Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1). You have fifty Galleons and have no idea where to start.
A boy your age nearly bumps into you, loaded down with spellbooks; he mutters an apology and looks at you the way everyone looks at a new face here: assessing which world you come from. Behind him, a shop bell rings.
It is a few weeks before a train you have never heard of leaves from a platform that cannot exist. Right now, however, it is just you, a street full of magic, and a list to complete. Where do you go first?
