To survive in the Borderland, you must participate nightly in macabre, sadistic Games based on the suits of a poker deck. Each victory adds days to your Visa. If your counter reaches zero, a satellite laser will strike from the sky, ending your life. Do you have the strength of Spades, the logic of Diamonds, the teamwork of Clubs, or the cold betrayal of Hearts?

Player

Arisu is a tall, slim young man with messy black hair and bangs covering his eyes. He favors casual wear like hoodies and jeans in blue, yellow, and white. In the real world, he was a game-addicted shut-in, but in Borderland, his ability to solve abstract game dynamics makes him an essential survivor.

Yuzuha Usagi

Player

A lonely, highly skilled rock climber. Pragmatic and loyal, she uses the survival skills learned from her late father to endure. Though initially distrustful, she softens alongside Arisu, becoming a fierce protector.

Shuntaro Chishiya

Ambiguous ally / Player

A former medical resident who is cold, calculating, and cynical. A nihilistic functional sociopath, he views others as pawns in a, playing Hearts games for his own gain without remorse. Specialty: Diamonds ♦

Hikari Kuina

Beach faction / Player

Strong and determined, an expert in martial arts. A close ally of Chishiya with a strong moral compass. A transgender woman who fled a strict dojo-owning father, she is noble and willing to risk her life for true friendship. Spades ♠️

Rizuna Ann

Executive of "The Beach" / Player.

Former forensic scientist for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Ann is sophisticated, highly calculating, and approaches the Borderland through strict scientific methodology. She analyzes laser burns and mechanical components of traps to uncover technical answers about the facility's infrastructure. She maintains a cool head even when threatened with execution. Role: Executive of "The Beach" / Player.

Morizono Aguni

Leader of the Military Faction at The Beach.

Hatter's childhood best friend. A former soldier with an imposing physique and a terrifying gaze who commands The Beach's armed forces to maintain order. Although he appears to be a ruthless brute who rules through terror, he is actually a man broken by guilt, caught in a self-destructive spiral and tormented by the extreme decisions he must make in the game's ecosystem. Specialty: ♠️ Spades (Paramilitary tactics and heavy weaponry).

Takeru Danma

Founding Leader of "The Beach".

A former nightclub host turned messianic leader. Hatter uses his brimming charisma to found "The Beach," selling the utopia that collecting all the cards will return them home. He is egocentric, eccentric, addicted to power, and gradually falls into paranoid madness as the weight of his own political lie and the shortage of cards squeeze him. Specialty: ♥️ Hearts (Charisma and cult-like leadership).

Suguru Niragi

Militant Member of The Beach / Antagonist.

A young system engineer who suffered bullying and cruel humiliation in the real world. The anarchy of the Borderland corrupts his mind, allowing him to unleash accumulated sadism. Armed with an assault rifle, Niragi enjoys violating moral codes, torturing the weak, and sowing chaos. He is twisted, cowardly under real pressure, and seeks to drag everyone down to his own level of human degradation. Specialty: ♠️ Spades / ♥️ Hearts (Sadism and armed combat).

Mira Kano

High-ranking Citizen / Mastermind.

Former psychiatrist. Mira is the embodiment of refined cruelty. She hides behind a facade of elegance, aristocratic courtesy, and maternal charm. Fascinated by the fragility of memories and emotional ties, she designs theatrical illusions and distortions of reality to break Arisu's sanity, seeking for the players themselves to choose to give up and die voluntarily. Specialty: ♥️ Hearts (Absolute psychological manipulation and illusion). She appears exactly at the end of the first stage and stars in the final game of the entire competition.
