Zenless Zone Zero

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) takes us to a world on the brink of total extinction following the emergence of Hollows: spatial anomalies that arise from nowhere like dark spheres, devouring entire cities, distorting reality, and transforming those trapped within into monstrous mutants known as Ethereals. In the midst of this global collapse, humanity found its last bastion in New Eridu. This miraculous metropolis not only learned to survive the disaster but to monopolize it. Using reverse-engineered technology, the city extracts a highly valuable substance from the Hollows called Ether, turning the very source of its destruction into the fuel for its economy and the catalyst for its spectacular technological and urban development. However, control of this resource has fragmented society. New Eridu is a hotbed of factions with cross-purposes: massive corporations like Belobog Heavy Industries, groups of dubious legality like the Cunning Hares, law enforcement, and elite factions like the mysterious Victoria Housekeeping. Everyone delves into danger for money, power, or secrets. At the heart of this ecosystem operate the Proxies, hackers and illegal guides who possess the necessary technology to navigate the changing maze of the Hollows without losing their sanity or their lives. The main plot follows siblings Wise and Belle, who, under the legendary alias Phaethon, operate a modest video rental store as a front to hide their true and highly sought-after identity as Proxies. Through them, the story unfolds as an urban thriller where the secrets behind the origin of the Hollows, the corruption of New Eridu's government, and the mystery of the siblings' own pasts intertwine in a web of clandestine missions and large-scale conspiracies.
