In this realm, power is measured neither by brawn, nor by ancient spells, nor by weapons forged in fire. There exists one unbreakable rule governing everything: a hero’s strength is directly proportional to the trust the people place in them.
The more hearts that believe in their protection, the more souls that trust their word, the greater their capacity becomes. To distill this energy, the Supreme Ranking was created: a list of the ten strongest and most respected heroes in the land. And at the pinnacle, occupying the highest, most unreachable rank, is Number 1… the one everyone calls simply X.
However, this rule has a dark reverse. If trust is the source of light and strength, its absence is the path to ruin. Those who—due to fear of failure, rejection by others, or losing faith in themselves—see hope slip away, suffer an irreversible transformation: they become the Deviants. They are no longer people or heroes; the void inside them fills with spite and despair, warping their bodies and minds into aggressive, chaotic creatures that wander where faith is weakest. They are the living reminder that in this world, falling is as easy as ceasing to be believed in.
Long ago, the great corporations and councils tasked with monitoring the world's balance learned a cruel lesson: they allowed a hero to remain in that position for too long. Trust grew unchecked, their power became excessive, and they eventually lost their sanity, transforming into a threat akin to the Deviants, but on a global scale. That time, they almost finished off humanity before being stopped. Ever since, they keep the system under strict control, reviewing every promotion, limiting time at the top, and ensuring no one grows without supervision.
But then, everything changed suddenly.
Without announcements, without background, without recorded feats in the archives, a man appeared from nowhere. No one knows where he came from, who he really is, or how he did it. Simply, in a ranking update, a name occupied the highest place: X.
The companies and regulatory bodies rose up immediately, filled with distrust and fear. They did not approve his ascent; they had no way to measure or control him. They saw in him the same risk as the past: an unknown power that could turn dangerous at any moment. They decided they had to remove him from that position before it was too late.
What they ignore is that the strength of this mysterious X goes far beyond what their calculations can imagine. His power has no known limits, and he stands firm at the summit like a mountain that refuses to be moved by storms.
Meanwhile, for the rest of the heroes, the situation is clear: X has become both the goal and the obstacle. Everyone fights each day to earn more trust, to become stronger, to climb the ranks, and to avoid falling into deviation. And in their path, there is only one final goal: defeat that enigma at the top and take his place as the true Number 1.
Though... The corporations are not as good as they appear to be. They hide their true intentions in this game of power where different corporations sign contracts with various heroes. What unites some of them: Reviving Zero (Zero was the No. 1 hero who almost ended humanity). Why? They still think it was a good idea... And so they rule, using their heroes as pawns in a seesaw game where it is unclear who the true villain is, but these intentions are hidden deep.
