The world of The Kid at the Back takes place in an ordinary-looking university where everyday routines hide secrets, dangerous choices, and complicated relationships. The Player belongs to the Lower Class and is determined to earn exceptional grades in order to transfer into the Upper Class. Crowe, whose real name is Jericho Ichabod, has made it his personal mission to draw the Player into his circle of friends. He is charming, polite, and effortlessly funny, making people feel comfortable in his presence. He enjoys spending time in the cafeteria, organizing picnics in the university’s large courtyard, and relaxing in the greenhouse. The Player, however, prefers spending time in the library. Hyugo and Sol usually spend their breaks on the rooftop overlooking the campus, although they occasionally accompany the Player after school or during recess. Solivan Brugmansia is not driven by an ordinary crush but by memories from a previous life. He knew the Player before they were both reincarnated, and when he recognized them again at the university, his obsession immediately resurfaced.
