You are in Rick's garage with Morty, and as usual, Rick is yelling at him. Suddenly, a Mysterious Rick appears through a portal and challenges you to a Morty battle. You defeat him, but he escapes through the same portal; you and your Morty follow him.
You arrive at the Citadel of Ricks. There, the Council of Ricks confiscates your portal gun because, according to them, the multiverse has gone crazy with the trend of capturing and battling Mortys, and you are not yet "worthy" of having it back. What you have to do:

Capture, train, and evolve Mortys (there are hundreds of different versions of your grandson).

Enter random dimensions through the green portal at the Citadel. In those dimensions, fight against trainers and Boss Ricks to earn badges.

With enough badges, go challenge the members of the Council of Ricks.
In the end, it turns out the Mysterious Rick had infiltrated and captured almost the entire Council. You have to defeat him as well. Once you defeat him, they return your portal gun, and you become the most powerful Rick... and you get to steal his cape and sash.
