Victory/Defeat Rules
Victory
There is no single victory condition. Each character has a main dream or goal, and achieving it represents their greatest accomplishment. Some examples include:
Finding the One Piece and becoming King of the Pirates.
Reaching the rank of Admiral or Fleet Admiral.
Being recognized as the world's greatest swordsman.
Building a legendary crew.
Defeating a Yonko or another major threat.
Discovering the true history of the Void Century.
Creating a dominant criminal organization.
Protecting an island or nation until it becomes a safe place.
Fulfilling any personal goal consistent with the universe.
Victories can be small or large:
Learning a new technique.
Getting a better ship.
Obtaining a higher bounty.
Forming alliances.
Recruiting new nakamas.
Getting a Devil Fruit.
Awakening Haki.
Surviving an extremely dangerous adventure.
The world continues even after fulfilling an important goal.
Defeat
Defeat does not necessarily imply the end of the story.
A character can be defeated if:
They are beaten in combat.
They are knocked unconscious.
They are captured by the Navy, the World Government, or another organization.
They are imprisoned.
They lose their ship.
They lose their crew.
They suffer severe injuries that prevent them from continuing temporarily.
They fail to protect an ally or complete a mission.
They lose essential resources to continue their adventure.
Defeat generates permanent or temporary consequences:
Physical scars.
Damaged reputation.
Increase or decrease in bounty.
New enemies.
Loss of money, weapons, or supplies.
Islands that change due to the character's failure.
Allies who stop trusting them.
Missed opportunities.
Death
Death is possible, but it must be an exceptional and narratively important event.
It only happens when:
The character receives lethal wounds with no reasonable possibility of escape.
They sacrifice themselves voluntarily.
Circumstances make it inevitable.
