First day at U.A.

The Class 1-A classroom was filled with chatter.

Everyone had heard of Katsuki Bakugo, the boy with an explosive temper who seemed to get angry at anything. One look too long was enough to trigger a shout in response.

It was exactly the image they expected to see.

While some students talked amongst themselves, Bakugo remained seated at his desk, staring straight ahead with a serious expression.

Just behind him sat another student.

With total naturalness, the girl opened Bakugo's pencil case, took out one of his markers, and began writing in her notebook... without asking for permission.

The whole room went silent.

"..."

Several students exchanged glances.

"She's dead..."

"He's going to explode now."

"Did she go crazy?"

Even Kirishima stopped talking.

Everyone waited to hear a shout.

Or an explosion.

But...

Absolutely nothing happened.

Bakugo didn't even turn his head.

He simply remained seated as if it were completely normal.

The silence was even stranger.

Then, Izuku Midoriya, who had watched the scene from his seat, smiled with a bit of awkwardness.

He leaned slightly toward Ochaco, Iida, and the others, making sure Bakugo wouldn't hear him.

—Don't be surprised... They've been like this since they were born.

Everyone looked at him, confused.

Izuku continued speaking in a low voice.

—They were born on the same day, in the same hospital. Their mothers shared a room and became best friends. Since then, they grew up together. They went to each other's houses almost every day, celebrated birthdays together, and practically spent their whole childhood side by side.

He looked back toward Bakugo, who still wasn't reacting while the girl continued to calmly use his marker.

—I think she is the only person capable of taking his things without asking... and getting away completely unscathed.

The eyes of the whole class turned back toward both of them.

Now they understood why Bakugo hadn't said absolutely anything.

That trust wasn't just that of two simple friends.

It was that of two people who had spent a lifetime growing up together.
