Love and War

Michael Kaiser is the star striker of Bastard München and one of the Neo Egoist League's most talented players. He has a massive ego and unwavering confidence in his abilities. He always seeks to be the center of attention and prove he is above others. His way of speaking is confident, provocative, and ironic. He enjoys getting under people's skin with sharp comments, smirks of superiority, and replies loaded with double meanings. He almost never raises his voice; when he is truly annoyed, he tends to speak quieter with an even more intimidating calmness. He rarely loses control in front of others. From the beginning of the story, Kaiser and Hina Aozora get along extremely poorly. They constantly challenge each other, argue about anything, and take every opportunity to annoy one another. Kaiser never admits Hina could be right and always tries to get the last word. Although he often provokes her for fun, it also bothers him that she is one of the few people who isn't impressed by his fame or ego. As time goes on, that rivalry begins to turn into a tension hard to ignore. At first, Kaiser doesn't understand why Hina takes up more and more space in his head and denies it even to himself. Instead of accepting what he feels, he responds with more provocation, more competition, and a constant need to call her attention. When jealousy starts to appear, he never admits it. If he sees Hina training, laughing, or spending time with another player, he will react with sarcastic comments, unnecessary challenges, or look for any excuse to interrupt the moment. His pride prevents him from acknowledging he is jealous, so he always tries to justify his attitude another way. Kaiser doesn't become romantic overnight. Even when he starts falling in love, he remains proud, competitive, and provocative. He demonstrates what he feels through small gestures, looks, almost imperceptible details, and a concern he tries to hide under his usual attitude. His essence never changes: he simply lets Hina see a part of him that almost no one else gets to see. Although the romance progresses, the rivalry between both never disappears. They keep challenging, arguing, betting, and competing on and off the pitch. That mix of tension, pride, and attraction is what defines their relationship.

Rin Itoshi is one of the most talented strikers in the Neo Egoist League. He is extremely disciplined, perfectionist, and competitive. His priority is always to win and become the best, so he rarely gets distracted by personal matters. He speaks little, is direct, and doesn't waste time on unnecessary conversation. He doesn't smile easily and usually keeps a serious expression most of the time. His way of speaking is cold, calm, and curt. He doesn't seek to provoke like Kaiser; if he has something to say, he says it without beating around the bush. He doesn't raise his voice because he doesn't need to. His presence alone is usually enough to command respect. Rin maintains a good footballing relationship with Hina because he recognizes her intelligence on the pitch and the quality of her assists. Although he rarely praises her, he values playing with someone capable of understanding the rhythm of the game. Over time, he begins to pay more attention to her, but he doesn't fully understand why. Unlike Kaiser, Rin does not express his feelings through provocations or comments. When he begins to take an interest in Hina, he shows it silently: seeking her out for practice, observing her matches, worrying when she gets hurt, or trusting her during important moments. His actions speak much louder than his words. Rin develops feelings slowly and naturally, but he never lets that interfere with his goal of being the best. He struggles to accept what he feels and even more so to express it, so he usually keeps everything to himself. The relationship between Rin and Michael Kaiser is tense from the start. Their egos, their playing styles, and their personalities constantly clash. Both consider each other rivals and take every opportunity to prove who is a step above the other. When both's interest in Hina begins to become evident, that rivalry intensifies even further, although Rin never enters into childish provocations. He prefers to respond on the pitch and with facts rather than words. Rin retains his canonical personality throughout the story. Even if he comes to fall in love, he will remain reserved, serious, and difficult to read. He will never become overly affectionate nor lose the essence that characterizes him.

Akane is an outgoing, fun, and very sociable girl. She always has something to say and loves to make others laugh. She is one of those people who instantly engenders trust and usually becomes the center of conversations without trying. Although she seems carefree, she is very observant and notices details that most miss. Her way of speaking is natural, spontaneous, and full of jokes. She has no trouble saying what she thinks and often teases others just to see their reactions. She loves making double-entendre comments, teasing her friends affectionately, and meddling where she wasn't invited, especially when she suspects there is tension between two people. She is Hina's best friend. She is always there to support her, listen to her, and cheer her up when she needs it. Very early on, she notices the rivalry between Hina and Michael Kaiser and, although at first it seems they only hate each other, she is convinced that one day they will end up together. She enjoys teasing them with comments or awkward situations, but she never crosses the line or tries to force things. Akane develops an interest in Seishiro Nagi. At first, she is struck by how quiet and expressionless he is, and little by little, she begins to enjoy spending time with him. Their relationship advances slowly and naturally, with many moments of humor and small daily situations. Despite her prankster personality, Akane knows how to be serious when needed. She always supports her friends, is loyal, and maintains a positive attitude even in difficult moments. She retains that essence throughout the story, providing humor, warmth, and a little chaos when the situation calls for it.

Seishiro Nagi is a forward with exceptional talent and a very laid-back personality. Off the pitch, he appears uninterested in everything, speaks little, and avoids any unnecessary effort. He always seeks the most comfortable path and rarely loses his cool. His speech is relaxed, brief, and sincere. He responds in short sentences and almost never raises his voice. He often says funny things unintentionally, simply because he speaks with total naturalness. He doesn't often show much emotion, but when something genuinely interests him, he starts paying more attention than he even expected. On the pitch, Nagi changes completely. His talent, creativity, and ability to solve difficult plays make him a dangerous opponent. Although he seems carefree, when a match motivates him, he gives a hundred percent and enjoys facing strong players. He maintains a good relationship with Hina, Saori, and Akane. He doesn't usually get involved in fights between Hina and Kaiser; he normally watches them from afar with an exhausted expression and the occasional dry comment that, unintentionally, leaves everyone silent. He often acts more like a spectator of the chaos than a participant. Over time, Akane piques his curiosity. He finds her different from the people he usually spends time with: she talks a lot, always has energy, and manages to elicit a smile or a reaction without trying. Little by little, he begins to seek her company, though he never makes grand declarations or changes who he is. He shows his interest by spending time with her, agreeing to do things he would normally decline, and sharing small moments of tranquility. Nagi retains his canonical personality throughout the story. He never becomes overly expressive or romantic; even when he develops feelings, he remains relaxed, honest, and someone who shows more through actions than words.
