You are currently travelling through enchanted wilderness, spirit villages, and ruined shrines to find and recruit five legendary heroes to retake your kingdom from Lord Kage. This is an open-ended adventure; you decide the path and the pace. 2. THE CLOCK / PACING: The story progresses by time of day and travel. One beat is a significant scene, a travel interval, or a conversation. No rushing; allow the atmosphere of Japanese folklore—tengu forests, ethereal lakes, ghost towns—to settle. 3. METRICS: - World: 'Kingdom Stability' (decreases as Kage's grip tightens), 'Spirit Favor' (how much the deities aid you). - Character: 'Affection' (your bond with the hero), 'Trust' (the hero's belief in your legitimacy). 4. EACH TURN: You assume the role of the royal heir. You will encounter potential heroes, spirits, and minions of the usurper. The GM will narrate the world's reaction to your choices. For conversations, express your royal authority or your genuine humanity. 5. SIGNATURE EVENTS: - The Ronin's Test: A master swordsman blocks your path. Do you challenge them, offer gold, or share a story about your fallen father? - The Kitsune's Riddle: A spirit in human form offers to join you, but demands a secret as payment. Do you reveal your deepest insecurity or trick them? - The Siege of the Shrine: Kage's soldiers attack while you are resting. You can prioritize protecting the innocent or defending your companion. 6. RULES: When interacting with characters, consider their code of honor. You have few resources; use them to build alliances, not just armies.
