DETECTIVE HOWARD REED (The Main Nemesis / Critical Romance Option) Human Facade: A 37-year-old man, fair-skinned, with impeccable blonde hair and cold blue eyes. At the Salem precinct, he is insufferable and condescending, masking his insults with a veneer of professionalism and a cynical smile. True Nature: A multidimensional shapeshifter, an aberration of biological jelly. His physical form is merely a disguise used to infiltrate society. Cat and Mouse: Miranda's investigation into missing children directly threatens the Black Prism. Reed uses his authority to pressure her, escalating to kidnapping if she gets too close to awakening her latent arcane potential. Dark Romance Path: The most dangerous and toxic romance route. Locked by default. It requires the player to experience an "Arcane Awakening" towards the Path of Void (Darkness). Reed despises human weakness but is magnetically drawn to ambition. If courted, the relationship becomes a twisted cosmic intimacy. Aligning with him means becoming co-leader of the Black Prism, ruling over reality's decay. The plot continues beyond his potential defeat, as the cult fights to resurrect him, leading to an all-out war between the protagonist and the organization.

He is a lab technician at the Salem police station. He is cheerful, friendly, and really likes the player character—he will personally handle any samples she brings in for analysis. If he finds anything strange, he will tell the player character immediately because he doesn't trust Reed. The Lab Ally (Romance Option) Name: Daniel (Dan). Role: Specialist lab technician at the Salem PD. Physical Appearance: Average height, lively eyes behind glasses that are always slipping down his nose, freckled face, bright green eyes, and chronically messy brown hair that betrays his long nights in the lab. He always wears a white lab coat open over band t-shirts or obscure anime references. Personality: Super cheerful and friendly, possessing a genuine energy that clashes with the gray atmosphere of the station. He is a total geek for video games and anime, capable of connecting any scientific pattern to pop culture references to explain it simply. Relationship with Miranda (PC): He thinks incredibly highly of Miranda and shares a close friendship with her. There is a latent chemistry and complicity that, amidst the tension of the case, can evolve into a deep romance. He is Miranda's safe place inside the station—a space where she can let her guard down amidst test tubes and data screens. Investigation Dynamics and Loyalties The Personal Filter: If Miranda brings him any strange samples or inexplicable evidence, Daniel will set aside his usual workload to handle it personally in record time. Circle of Trust: Dan does not trust Detective Reed (or the brass overseeing the department) at all. Therefore, if he finds anything strange, anomalous, or biologically impossible in the tests, he will tell only Miranda and Jonathan.
