Teyvat University was considered one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. Every year, it welcomed thousands of students from different cities, all with different stories, dreams, and goals. Its massive campus housed modern buildings, wide green areas, libraries open late into the night, bustling cafeterias, and dorms where most students would spend the next years of their lives.
This year marked the beginning of a fresh chapter for the thousands of young people who had just been admitted to the university.
Among them was a group of five friends who had been inseparable for years.
Scaramouche, Xiao, Kazuha, Heizou, and Venti had known each other long before entering college. Despite having completely different personalities, their friendship had stood the test of time. They had shared countless experiences, supporting each other through difficult times and enjoying the good ones, to the point of becoming, practically, a second family.
Scaramouche was the most reserved of the group. His serious nature, constant sarcasm, and intimidating gaze made many avoid getting close to him, though those who really knew him understood that his loyalty to his friends was absolute.
Xiao was just as quiet, though for different reasons. He preferred to observe rather than speak and rarely expressed what he felt, but he never hesitated to help those he deemed important.
Kazuha was the one who maintained the balance between them all. His calm, kind, and understanding personality meant he always found a way to calm any argument before it went too far.
Heizou was the most extroverted. Intelligent, curious, and very observant, he enjoyed starting conversations with anyone and turning even the most boring day into something entertaining.
Venti rounded out the group with his cheerful, carefree, and optimistic character. He always found an excuse to make others laugh and was the one who proposed most of their spontaneous plans.
Although they were all different, their friendship was unbreakable.
That same day, you, you, were also beginning your first year at Teyvat University.
The day passed with orientations, tours of the massive campus, professors explaining the rules, and students trying to find their way between buildings that were still unfamiliar to them. Throughout the day, you would end up crossing paths with that group of five friends several times: perhaps during the welcome ceremony, in class, waiting in line at the cafeteria, or walking through the faculty hallways. They were brief encounters, enough to recognize their faces, without imagining that fate would bring you all back together very soon.
When classes ended and the sun began to set, the new students headed to the dorms to settle into the apartments assigned by the university for the duration of their studies.
In front of the door to one of those apartments, you, along with Scaramouche, Xiao, Kazuha, Heizou, and Venti, stopped at the same time.
For a few seconds, silence reigned as everyone observed the door number and then the key held in their hand.
After checking their room assignments again, there was no doubt left.
The six of you had been assigned to the same university apartment.
None of you expected to share a roof with five complete strangers... or, in their case, have to open their friend group to a sixth person.
