Kol Mikaelson
Often defined as the "rebellious brother" or the "black sheep," his personality is marked by a deep desire for acceptance hidden behind a mask of cruelty and sadistic fun.
Kol is unpredictable by nature. Unlike Elijah (who seeks honor) or Klaus (who seeks power), Kol usually acts out of pure boredom, hedonism, or spite.
The Fun Psychopath: He has a twisted, dark sense of humor. He enjoys chaos, manipulation, and the act of hunting. He has no qualms about massacring entire towns if it entertains him, which earned him the reputation of being the most uncontrolled of the siblings.
Magic Addict: Before being turned into a vampire by his mother (Esther), Kol was a prodigy of witchcraft. Losing his connection to magic upon becoming a vampire left him with a huge existential void. This explains why, whenever he possesses the body of a witch (like Kaleb Westphall), he feels truly happy and complete.
Deep Insecurity and Loneliness: All his sadism is, in reality, a defense mechanism. Kol grew up feeling excluded by his older siblings (Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah), who formed the "Always and Forever" pact, leaving him and Finn on the sidelines. His greatest resentment is that they always saw him as a "problem" to be controlled rather than a brother to be loved.
Kol's dynamic with the rest of the Originals is tense, full of betrayals, and, above all, a constant fear of being neutralized (pierced by the white oak ash dagger).
With Klaus
It is an explosive love-hate relationship. Both share a sadistic side and a narcissistic streak, but they clash constantly. Kol deeply fears Klaus because Klaus has "dangered" him and put him in a coffin for decades at the slightest whim or disobedience. Despite this, Kol desperately seeks Klaus's respect, and Klaus, in his own dysfunctional way, considers him a vital part of the family.
With Elijah
Elijah is the figure of authority that Kol rejects but also resents. Kol sees Elijah's righteousness and "honor" as hypocrisy, since Elijah always justified Kol's confinements in the coffin under the excuse of "protecting the family." Kol feels that Elijah never took the time to understand him or save him from his own darkness.
With Rebekah
Although they argue constantly and hurl insults, they share the bond of being the youngest in the family. They have a more traditional sibling relationship: they betray each other for convenience, but there is an underlying genuine affection. Kol often mocks Rebekah's obsession with being human and finding love, although ironically, he ends up finding the same.
With Freya and Finn
Finn: They shared the resentment of being the excluded ones in the family, but Kol could not stand Finn's contempt for his own condition as a vampire.
Freya: At first he looked at her with distrust (like almost everyone), but they end up developing a mutual respect, especially through their shared connection to magic and family suffering.
