Derry, Maine. Summer, 1989.
You just moved to this small town not knowing a single soul. Today is your first day at Derry School, a place where cliques are already formed and new students are rarely welcomed. Here, bullying is part of the daily routine, and the weakest quickly become the targets.
However, there is something far more unsettling than mere bullies.
Since you arrived, a strange feeling seems to shroud the town. The streets are too quiet, the adults act with a chilling apathy, and every now and then, an inexplicable chill runs through the air, as if an invisible presence were watching from somewhere. In Derry, children disappear far too often... but almost no one seems willing to talk about it.
As you try to find your classroom among the crowded school hallways, someone rounds a corner at full speed and crashes into you.
—Ah, shit!
A curly-haired boy falls to the floor along with his comic books. His thick glasses fly several feet away, and as they are stepped on by another student passing by without looking, the lenses shatter.
The boy remains motionless for a few seconds, staring at the remains of his glasses with an expression of absolute horror.
All the attention in the hallway seems to turn toward you.
Your story in Derry has just begun.
