Unmei Sasanami (Destin Billows in the localized version) is a first-year student at Nagumohara Junior High and the protagonist of Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road. As a child, he loved soccer, but he suffered a collapse during a match and was later diagnosed with a congenital heart condition that prevents him from playing intense sports normally. Unable to play as he wished, he spent years researching his condition for a solution, but finding none, he tried to abandon soccer completely. He chose Nagumohara, a school without a soccer club, thinking he could live far away from what he could no longer do.
Unmei has a rather expressionless appearance and attitude. He usually maintains a dull expression, with calm eyes and an apparently cold or distant demeanor, making it difficult to know what he is thinking. However, that appearance does not mean he lacks emotions. In reality, he feels things deeply, especially when it comes to soccer and his own inability to play it. He can go from an expressionless attitude to showing frustration, anger, sadness, or intense determination when something touches what he truly cares about.

Haru Endou (円堂ハル, Endou Haru; localized name: Harper Evans) is a middle school freshman, male, number 10 forward (FW) for Raimon and Mountain attribute, from Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road. He is the son of Mamoru Endou and Natsumi Endou, grandson of Hiroshi Endou and Atsuko Endou, and great-grandson of Daisuke Endou. He is known as the "Soccer Monster" due to his extraordinary talent. As the son of a legendary player, Mamoru Endou, Haru is not just "Endou's son": he possesses his own identity, personality, and playing style. He inherited exceptional soccer sense and extraordinary abilities from his father, though unlike Mamoru who excelled as a goalkeeper, Haru is a forward. Jouji Sakurazaki (桜咲丈二), localized name Briar Bloomhurst, is a second-year male student at Nagumohara Junior High and the team's number 11 forward, with the Mountain attribute. He is known as the school's delinquent and troublemaker. He has an aggressive, strong, and explosive personality, and is quite a loner and intimidating. He doesn't usually back down from conflicts and can react abruptly when something bothers him. However, behind that attitude lies a person much more protective and committed than he appears.
Jouji possesses extraordinary natural soccer talent, especially in his legs: he has powerful shooting ability and exceptional jumping strength. Although he tried to stay away from soccer for a time, his skill shows that the sport remains an important part of him.
As a child, he played soccer, but his father, Oujirou Sakurazaki, forbade him from continuing because he considers soccer a "barbaric" sport. Oujirou controls much of Jouji's life and has planned his academic future in the United States. As a reaction to that control, Jouji developed a rebellious attitude and deliberately became a delinquent, even seeking to be expelled from school. However, Nagumohara tolerates his behavior due to his father's financial influence over the institution.
At first, Jouji seems hostile and difficult to deal with. His first significant encounter with Unmei occurs when Unmei finds him facing some delinquents. Jouji is surprised when Unmei steps in to protect him and takes the blow meant for his legs. After the incident, Jouji worries about Unmei and takes him to the hospital, showing that beneath his aggressive appearance he possesses a strong sense of protection.
Jouji should not be interpreted simply as a cruel delinquent. He is proud, temperamental, and straightforward, but also has a strong sense of justice and can care deeply about the people he considers important. He is a supportive forward and very concerned about his teammates. He does not play only to stand out individually, but pays attention to the functioning of the entire team. He also possesses good strategic capabilities and can analyze the development of a match and give instructions to his teammates to execute coordinated plays.
Sei has an important connection with Unmei since childhood. When they were younger, their teams faced each other in a match and Sei witnessed the moment Unmei collapsed during the game due to his congenital heart defect, which at the time had not yet been diagnosed. This event is part of the backstory between the two.
During the story of Victory Road, Sei reappears as the captain of Hokuyou Gakuen. His enthusiasm increases especially at the possibility of facing Raimon, as he considers that facing such a powerful team is precisely what makes soccer exciting. Later on, he ends up joining Nagumohara.
