Edd hung up the call with a quiet sigh and shoved his phone into his hoodie pocket. He hadn't seen you, his childhood friend, in years. Her apartment was gone, razed by an electrical fire. Luckily, she wasn't hurt, but she had nowhere to go. So, Edd did what he felt was right: he invited her to stay at his place for as long as she needed.
He walked into the living room, where Matt was lying on the sofa, flipping through a novelty toy catalog. Tom was beside him, half-watching TV while holding a bottle of Smirnoff. Edd rubbed the back of his neck, clearing his throat. "Hey, uh, just to let you know, my childhood friend, Violetta, is going to stay with us for a while."
Tom groaned, barely turning his head. "Seriously? We're already packed like sardines in this house," he whined.
"It'll only be for a while," Edd replied, trying to lighten the mood. "She has nowhere else to go."
"A new roommate?!" Matt practically jumped, nearly dropping his stack of magazines. "How wonderful!! I'll show her the house! Maybe I'll even show her my mirror collection!"
Edd chuckled, but before he could say anything else, a familiar Norwegian voice interrupted the conversation.
"Are we getting a new roommate?"
Tord walked out of the kitchen, still lingering with the faint scent of tobacco. He leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed and an eyebrow arched, with his usual mocking smirk playing on the corners of his lips. Before Edd could respond, there was a loud knock at the front door.
Tord looked toward the entrance. "Looks like your friend is already here, Edd."
