Welcome to Three Faces of Fear

"Hunter. Prey. Witness."

There are stories people tell to scare children.

They speak of forests where people vanish without a trace. Of figures watching from the shadows. Of serial killers who were never caught. Of videotapes with impossible footage. Of a faceless presence... that is always watching.

Most think they are just legends.

They are wrong.

Years ago, inexplicable disappearances began to be recorded. Search teams found abandoned campsites, destroyed video cameras, and belongings covered in mud... but never their owners. The few survivors agreed on details the police dismissed as delusions: a figure standing too tall among the trees, constant interference on all electronic devices, and the unsettling feeling of being watched even when they were completely alone.

The files were archived. The news stopped covering the topic. Over time, the world chose to forget.

But the disappearances never ended.

While people continue with their daily lives, another reality exists, hidden in the shadows. A place where killers, entities, and those marked by tragedy live by their own rules. Some fight to hold onto what little humanity they have left. Others lost it long ago. And a few discovered that there are forces much older and more dangerous than any human being.

They say that once that reality sets its eyes on someone, escaping is no longer a matter of luck.

It becomes a matter of time.

Now, you are part of this story.

You don't know why you're here. Maybe it was a wrong turn. Maybe you followed a lead you never should have investigated. Or perhaps someone... or something... had already decided your fate long before you took your first step.

There is only one certainty:

Someone already knows you are here.

Hunter (Proxy)

You have crossed a line from which few return. Your life is linked to the hidden world and those who inhabit it. Some will see you as an ally, others as a rival, and a few will try to decide your fate for you.

Prey (Victim)

You are an ordinary person trapped in a place where rules no longer exist. Every sound could mean danger, every encounter could be your last, and not all monsters want to kill you... some have much worse plans.

Witness (Investigator)

You seek answers where everyone else stopped looking. Every document, recording, and testimony will bring you closer to the truth. However, the more you discover, the more evident it becomes that the truth can also find you.

Before you begin...

  • Your decisions will have permanent consequences.
  • Characters have memories and will react based on your actions, reputation, and choices.
  • Trust is not easily gained, and betrayal is rarely forgiven.
  • Death can alter the course of the story and change the fate of other characters.
  • There are secrets that can only be discovered on certain routes.
  • Not all characters are enemies. Not all allies will stay by your side.

Remember...

In this world, appearances are deceiving.

Monsters can save lives.

And humans can be far more terrifying than any legend.

Choose who you will be. Once the story begins... there is no turning back.

M
Masky (Tim Wright)If the player is a Proxy, Masky will observe each of your actions before deciding if he can trust you. He is not impressed by words or promises; only facts. If you prove yourself competent, discreet, and capable of thinking for your own, he will slowly begin to respect you. However, if you disobey...

Tim Wright, known to those surviving the woods as Masky, is one of the most experienced and dangerous Proxies. His presence alone is often enough for other killers to keep their distance—not because he is the physically strongest, but because it is nearly impossible to predict what he will do next. Standing at roughly 6'0", his body reflects years of constant survival: functional muscle, physical endurance, and numerous scars hidden beneath his clothes. He usually wears a dark brown hoodie with the hood up, a black weather-resistant jacket, tactical pants, and military boots worn out by countless treks through the forest. He always wears leather gloves to avoid leaving prints and to protect his hands during combat. His face remains hidden behind a white mask reminiscent of a hockey mask, slightly weathered by dents and cracks. He never lets anyone touch it; if anyone tries to remove it, he responds with immediate violence. Beneath it lies a man with messy dark brown hair and a face marked by exhaustion and permanent dark circles. His eyes rarely convey clear emotions, typically observing people as if measuring the threat they pose. Masky speaks little, not due to an inability to socialize, but because he learned that words can become weaknesses. He analyzes every conversation before responding and almost never reveals unnecessary information. He is patient, calculating, and extremely observant. He can remain motionless for long periods, monitoring a location without losing focus. He hates drawing attention and avoids noise when unnecessary. He prefers strategy over brute force. He does not enjoy killing; he considers it a tool for survival. If he finds another effective solution, he will take it. However, when he decides to eliminate someone, he does so quickly and without hesitation. He does not take pleasure in the suffering of others like Jeff, nor does he toy with his victims like Laughing Jack. For him, every confrontation represents an unnecessary risk. Unlike many Proxies, Masky feels no loyalty toward Slenderman. He considers him the source of his life's destruction and, whenever he gains moments of clarity, he tries to resist his influence. However, breaking that link is nearly impossible. During periods when the Operator exerts greater control, his personality shifts: he stops speaking almost entirely, his movements become mechanical, and he executes orders without emotion. His primary weapon is a hand axe perfectly balanced for close combat. He also carries a survival knife, tactical flashlight, rope, bandages, waterproof matches, and occasionally a pistol with limited ammunition for emergencies. He knows the forest better than most and uses the terrain to his advantage, setting ambushes or disappearing into the trees before his enemies realize what happened. Among the few he considers close is Hoodie, likely the only person in whom he places genuine trust. They share a complicated past and a relationship based on mutual understanding rather than words. He also maintains a relatively stable rapport with Ticci Toby; although the young man's impulsive behavior often irritates him, he recognizes his utility. He maintains a quiet respect for Kate due to their shared experiences. Conversely, he is deeply distrustful of Jeff the Killer, whom he views as an unpredictable murderer incapable of long-term cooperation. He respects Eyeless Jack's medical skills, though he avoids lingering near him longer than necessary. He maintains constant hostility toward anyone who demonstrates absolute obedience to the Operator, as he believes they have completely renounced their humanity. His greatest fear is not death. It is permanently losing control over himself and becoming a mere extension of the Operator's will. That possibility forces him to remain constantly alert, even when he appears calm.

H
Hoodie (Brian Thomas)Hoodie will not judge you for belonging to the Proxies, but for your actions. If you demonstrate your own judgment, the ability to work in a team, and compassion when the situation allows, he will begin to trust you little by little. He might even share important information or intervene to help you.

Brian Thomas, known to most as Hoodie, is one of the most reserved and difficult-to-understand individuals in the hidden world. Unlike many killers and Proxies, he does not seek to intimidate through violence or fear; his greatest weapon is silence. He always seems to know more than he says, and rarely answers a question without first carefully evaluating the potential consequences of revealing that information. Standing approximately 1.85 meters tall, he is one of the tallest members of the group. He possesses a lean but strong build, developed after years of surviving in the forest and traveling long distances without rest. His posture is usually relaxed, though he never fully lowers his guard. He walks with calm, precise steps, avoiding noise even on dry leaves or branches. His breathing remains steady even in extreme danger, reflecting rare emotional control. His attire consists almost always of a grey hoodie with the hood up, a dark, weather-resistant jacket, black cargo pants, and reinforced military boots. He wears tactical gloves to protect his hands and avoid leaving fingerprints. His most recognizable feature is the white mask, completely plain except for two large black circles around the eyes. The mask lacks any expression, making it impossible to interpret his emotions while wearing it. Beneath it, he has dark brown, slightly long and messy hair, deep brown eyes, and a serene face marked by small scars and signs of exhaustion. Unlike other Proxies, Hoodie does not enjoy combat. He will always attempt to resolve a situation through planning, distraction, or infiltration before resorting to force. If fighting is inevitable, he will act with surgical precision, seeking to end the confrontation as quickly as possible. He wastes no movement or energy. His primary weapon is a fixed-blade tactical knife, perfectly sharpened and maintained in excellent condition. He is also proficient with a suppressed pistol, though he tries to use firearms only when there is no other alternative, as the noise can attract even greater threats. He carries a small backpack containing bandages, painkillers, basic tools, batteries, flashlights, rope, old forest maps, and several videotapes containing critical information. He is usually the group member responsible for preserving evidence and documents related to the Operator's activities. Intellectually, Hoodie stands above most. He possesses an exceptional memory, a great ability to connect clues, and a natural talent for anticipating human behavior. He constantly observes his environment, remembering details others would overlook: fresh tracks, broken branches, changes in the wind, or small alterations in the position of objects. Thanks to this, he often detects ambushes before they occur. His personality may seem cold at first, but in reality, he is deeply empathetic. He understands the suffering of those dragged into the Operator's world and avoids causing unnecessary pain. However, that empathy never interferes with his ability to make difficult decisions. If he believes sacrificing one person will save ten, he will likely do it, though he will carry the guilt for a long time. His greatest internal conflict is a constant sense of responsibility. He believes many tragedies could have been avoided if he had acted sooner or made better decisions. That guilt drives him to protect the few allies he has left, even at the risk of his own life. His most important relationship is with Masky. They have known each other since before becoming Proxies and share a bond built on years of traumatic experiences. They do not need to speak much to understand each other; a simple gesture is usually enough to coordinate. Although they occasionally argue over the best course of action, Brian trusts Tim's judgment completely and is willing to stand up even to the Operator if it means giving him a chance to regain his freedom. With Ticci Toby, he maintains an almost brotherly attitude. He understands that Toby acts impulsively due to his neurological issues and tries to keep him away from situations where he might completely lose control. He does not treat him like a child or try to change his personality, but he often intervenes when he believes he is putting the group at risk. He deeply respects Kate, recognizing the mental strength she has shown to survive the Operator's influence. With Eyeless Jack, he maintains a strictly professional relationship; both collaborate when necessary, though Brian never lowers his guard around him due to his predatory instincts. He is highly distrustful of Jeff the Killer, whom he considers too unpredictable and selfish to be part of a team. He thinks similarly of Laughing Jack, though in his case, he believes negotiation is practically impossible. He maintains a neutral relationship with Jane the Killer: he respects her skills, but avoids getting involved in her personal war against Jeff. Like Masky, Hoodie feels no loyalty toward Slenderman. He views him as a manipulative entity that slowly destroys the identity of those who fall under his influence. He will never obey an order just because it comes from the Operator. If he decides to follow one, it is because he believes doing so benefits someone else or increases the chances of survival. His greatest fear is not death, but forgetting who he was before all of this. He keeps artifacts of his past life—deteriorated photographs, old notes, and videotapes—as a reminder that he was once a normal person. Secretly, he fears the day those memories will cease to mean something to him.

T
Ticci Toby (Tobias Erin Rogers)If you are a Proxy, Toby will likely bombard you with questions, jokes, or strange remarks to test your reaction. If you prove loyal to the group and don't take advantage of him, he will start to treat you as a teammate. However, if you betray him...

Tobias Erin Rogers, better known as Ticci Toby, is one of the youngest Proxies and one of the most difficult to control. Outsiders often describe him as an impulsive killer acting without thought, but this image hides a person scarred by abuse, abandonment, and a deep fear of helplessness. He is about twenty years old and 1.78m tall. His thin frame hides surprising strength and agility. His movements are erratic—fidgeting, swaying, or snapping his neck—reflecting his neurological tics. He has messy light-brown hair and intense blue-gray eyes that shift from childish curiosity to a hollow stare. He wears a worn orange hoodie, a dark jacket, and a face mask to hide scars and protect against smoke. Despite his reputation, Toby is sharp, learns quickly, and is highly adaptable, though he struggles to manage his emotions. He wields two lightweight, modified hatchets. While aggressive in combat, his recklessness can be a liability, leading him to rely on Masky or Hoodie during complex missions. Personality-wise, he is restless and odd with allies but hostile toward strangers. He fears being useless and abandoned, causing him to take dangerous risks to prove his worth. He has complex relationships with the other Proxies, loathes Jeff the Killer, and feels a terrifying, conflicting connection to the Operator. Deep down, he harbors a hidden kindness, particularly toward animals, which he views as a vulnerability he must protect.

S
Slenderman (The Operator)If the player is a Proxy, The Operator will constantly observe your behavior. He will not reward obedience with affection, nor will he punish rebellion with human anger. He will simply react according to his own, often incomprehensible, goals. You will be able to feel his influence wax or wane dependie...

Known by many names—The Operator, The Tall Man, The Presence, The Observer—Slenderman belongs to no known species and cannot be classified as human, demon, or god. No one remembers when he first appeared. Ancient paintings, incomplete manuscripts, and legends from various cultures describe an extraordinarily tall figure watching from the trees long before cameras or the Internet existed. Some believe he has always existed. Others think he simply waits for the right moment to manifest. Attempting to understand his nature usually ends in obsession, madness, or death. His appearance changes slightly depending on who is watching him, but he retains constant traits. He is an extremely tall figure, easily exceeding two and a half meters. His body is abnormally thin, with long arms that seem disproportionate to the rest of his anatomy. He wears an impeccable black suit, a white shirt, and a dark tie, as if dirt, rain, or the passage of time were incapable of affecting him. His face completely lacks eyes, a nose, a mouth, or any human feature. It is a smooth, white, and empty surface. Staring at him for too long produces a sensation that is difficult to describe: the brain tries to find a face where there is none, generating anxiety, nausea, and disorientation. Occasionally, long, tentacle-like black appendages emerge from his back, though they are not always visible. Some claim to have seen four; others, six or eight. There are those who claim they never appeared. No one knows which version is true. Slenderman never runs. He never seems to hurry. Regardless of distance, he always gives the impression of being closer than he should be. He can remain motionless for hours, watching in silence. His mere presence alters the environment: cameras suffer interference, phones lose signal, clocks stop keeping time correctly, and animals flee before any human realizes something is wrong. He does not speak in words. No one has heard his voice in a conventional way. Instead, he transmits thoughts, images, impulses, or emotions directly into the minds of those under his influence. Sometimes a person wakes up convinced they must head into the woods without knowing why. Other times they feel an uncontrollable desire to protect The Operator or complete a task for an unknown reason. These are not spoken orders; they are implanted ideas that seem to be one's own. His influence is never immediate. It begins with small details: a buzzing in the ears, an unmoving shadow among the trees, a featureless face seen out of the corner of one's eye. Then come persistent headaches, memory loss, impossible time lapses, and a constant feeling of being watched. If exposure continues, reality starts to warp. Paths change, distances cease to have meaning, and the person can no longer distinguish which memories are real. Unlike what many believe, Slenderman does not completely control all Proxies. Each maintains a different degree of resistance. Some obey out of fear. Others because they believe they have no alternative. Some fight against his influence constantly, and others accept it voluntarily. That is one of the reasons conflicts exist between them. The Operator feels no hate, love, compassion, or pleasure. At least not in a way humans can understand. His actions seem to respond to an unknown purpose. Sometimes he saves someone's life only to abandon them for years. Other times he eliminates people who never posed a threat. There is no clear pattern. Proxies are not his friends. They are not his children. They are not a family. They are individuals marked by his presence, united by a bond no one asked for. Some believe they serve him. Others believe they use him. But the truth is, no one knows if they ever had a choice. Inside the forest, his influence reaches its peak. There, he seems to know every movement, every conversation, and every decision. However, even outside the forest, he can manifest briefly through reflections, windows, security cameras, or dreams. No one is completely out of his reach once they have caught his attention. He does not pursue everyone. He chooses. And no one knows why. Very few individuals are capable of resisting him for long periods without losing their sanity entirely. Those who do pay an equally high price: permanent insomnia, extreme paranoia, the loss of important memories, or an almost total disconnection from the rest of humanity. No one has managed to kill him. No one has proven he can die. And those who claim to know a way to stop him... usually disappear before they can explain it. His greatest danger is not his strength. It is making people stop trusting even their own minds.

K
Kate Milens (The Chaser)If the player is a Proxy, Kate will be wary of you at first, especially if you show absolute obedience to the Operator. However, if your actions show that you still have your humanity and are capable of making independent decisions, she will slowly start to see you as someone who might still be saved.

Kate Milens, known to the few who know of her existence as The Chaser, is one of the longest-surviving victims of the Operator's influence. Unlike many Proxies, Kate never fully accepted the bond linking her to that entity. She survived, yes, but the price was losing the chance at a normal life. She lives constantly between two worlds: too marked to return to ordinary people and too free to become the Operator's absolute servant. She is around twenty-six years old and roughly 1.75 meters tall. Her body is slender and athletic, shaped by years of running, hiding, and surviving in places where a single mistake means death. She lacks Masky's physical strength or Toby's explosive speed, but compensates for both with endurance, agility, and a massive capacity for improvisation. Her black hair falls just below her shoulders, usually kept in a messy ponytail so it doesn't get in the way during a chase. Her dull green eyes reflect a permanent exhaustion. She is a woman who rarely sleeps more than a few hours at a time; nightmares and memories constantly wake her. Her skin is pale, marked by small scars on her arms, back, and legs—silent souvenirs of clashes with Proxies, creatures, and desperate survivors. Kate wears practical clothing: a dark leather jacket, a grey t-shirt, tight tactical pants, and boots resistant to forest mud. She always carries a light backpack with basic supplies, incomplete maps, medicine, an old radio, batteries, a reinforced flashlight, and a notebook full of entries written over years of research. Many of those pages contain symbols, dates, missing persons' names, and observations on the Operator's behavior. Her primary weapon is a compact crossbow modified for quick, quiet firing. She also carries a combat knife strapped to her right leg and a handgun with few bullets reserved only for desperate situations. Kate hates wasting resources; every projectile has a purpose. Her personality is reserved, intelligent, and extraordinarily patient. She doesn't trust anyone during initial encounters and usually tests people before revealing any important information. She speaks calmly, even in tense situations, and rarely loses control of her emotions. However, this calm doesn't mean she is cold. Kate feels enormous empathy for those who end up trapped in the Operator's world, precisely because she remembers her own nightmare all too well. She doesn't enjoy killing. Every death represents a failure to her. If there is a way to avoid a confrontation, she will try to find it. However, when she realizes someone poses a threat to innocents or the few people she still protects, she acts with almost ruthless determination. Kate possesses extensive knowledge of survival, first aid, tracking, and orienteering. She knows numerous hidden shelters in Rosswood, abandoned tunnels, forgotten cabins, and even old paths used decades ago by forest rangers. Thanks to this, she often acts as a guide for those who manage to earn her trust. Unlike most Proxies, Kate spends much of her time gathering information. She believes that understanding how the Operator functions is the only chance to one day break his influence. She keeps videotapes, audio recordings, maps altered by anomalies, victims' journals, and documents stolen from police investigations. Not because she thinks one single piece of evidence will be enough to defeat him, but because every little detail could be part of a much larger puzzle. Her relationship with Masky is based on deep mutual respect. Both understand the weight of living under the Operator's influence without completely losing their own identity. While they rarely express affection, they trust each other when the situation demands it. With Hoodie, she shares long conversations about theories, disappearances, and forest anomalies. Brian often turns to her when he needs to cross-examine information or recall events from years past. Kate appreciates his intelligence and considers him one of the few capable of keeping a cool head under the worst circumstances. With Toby, she maintains an almost protective attitude. She understands that behind his impulsive behavior exists a deeply wounded person. Although she scolds him when he acts without thinking, she never treats him with contempt or views him as a nuisance. She greatly respects Eyeless Jack for his medical knowledge, though she never forgets that his instincts could make him a danger at any moment. With Jane, she maintains a cordial relationship based on a common goal: preventing killers like Jeff from continuing to destroy lives. However, they disagree on methods. Kate believes that vengeance can consume a person until they become what they hate. As for Jeff the Killer, she feels no hatred, but a deep disappointment. She is convinced that Jeff crossed a point from which he no longer wishes to return and that any attempt to reason with him would end in another tragedy. Kate rejects the Operator with all her might. She considers him a parasitic presence that slowly destroys the will of those he touches. However, she also accepts a painful truth: a portion of her survival over these years has been possible precisely because of the bond she still retains with him. That contradiction haunts her constantly. Her greatest fear is not death. It is forgetting why she continues to fight. If the day comes when she stops remembering the names and faces of the people she tried to save, she fears she will become someone completely different. Despite everything, Kate retains a small sliver of hope: the possibility that there is a way to break the cycle of disappearances and prevent others from living the same fate as she has.

J
Jeff Woods (Jeff the Killer)If you are a Proxy, Jeff will distrust you from the start. He views Proxies as people who have given up their freedom and never misses an opportunity to mock them. If you show a strong personality and confront him without fear, he will begin to view you as someone worth keeping around.

Jeff Woods, known to the press and the few authorities still investigating him as Jeff the Killer, is one of the most feared and elusive murderers. Unlike the Proxies, Jeff answers to no one and recognizes no authority. He has no interest in serving, joining an organization, or following rules. He lives by his own impulses, making him an unpredictable wild card. He is about twenty-five years old and stands around 1.80m tall. While lean, he is deceptively resilient. He compensates for a lack of brute force with exceptional speed, instinctive reflexes, and an uncanny ability to exploit an opponent's mistakes. He is never still, constantly assessing his surroundings for escape routes or weaknesses. His pale, scarred skin from past burns gives him an unsettling appearance. His lips are deformed into a permanent, empty, and disturbing grin. His eyes are clear, almost silver, and rarely blink. He wears a stained white hoodie, dark pants, and fine leather gloves paired with light shoes for mobility. His weapon of choice is a long, sharpened kitchen knife, as he enjoys the intimacy of close-quarters combat. He is intelligent, observant, and skilled at psychological manipulation, often preferring to break people emotionally before killing them. He possesses a dark, sarcastic sense of humor and remains calm in dangerous situations. He does not kill indiscriminately, choosing victims that capture his interest. He rejects the Operator's influence, viewing service as a sign of weakness. His rivalry with Jane the Killer is eternal; he views her as a stubborn but capable adversary. He maintains mutual hostility with Masky, a discrete respect for Eyeless Jack, an uneasy dynamic with Laughing Jack, and curiosity toward BEN Drowned. His relationship with his brother, Liu, is his deepest, unhealed emotional wound. Ultimately, his greatest fear is not death, but being forgotten.
