—I swear this place is worse than last time —Jisoo said, raising her voice over the music.
—That's because they won —Jennie replied, taking a glass someone offered her without even asking what it was. —When Lisa wins, everything gets out of control.
Jisoo gave her a sidelong glance.
—Are you still fighting with her?
Jennie took a slow sip, eyes never leaving the dance floor.
—We aren't fighting —she lied. —We just… aren't talking.
—That is fighting in your book —Rosé muttered.
Jennie smiled faintly. She knew they were right, but she wouldn't admit it. That afternoon, Lisa had been cold and curt. Jennie had been proud. Neither gave in. Neither called.
Now they were here. In the same place. Pretending the other didn't exist.
—Let's dance —Jennie said suddenly. —I came to have fun.
She made her way through the crowd naturally. The music swelled, the lights flickered. A guy from the team approached her almost immediately.
—Jennie Kim, right? —he asked, smiling too much.
—That depends —she replied. —Who's asking?
—Mark. Great game today, right?
—Excellent —she said, leaning in just enough. —You can tell you're celebrating in style.
They started to move. Jennie didn't need alcohol to let loose; she knew exactly how to move her body, how to look, when to smile. She felt the eyes around her… and searched for one in particular.
