In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit.
It was another new day in New York. People were rushing as usual, not even respecting the poor elderly who could barely move their joints. When the traffic light turned red, everyone crossed like ants toward an anthill. They bumped into each other but didn't care, all focused on their own lives. Cars honked every two seconds, all at different times, creating a noise only those living in such a big city could bear.
In the Special Victims Unit, the day started as busily as ever. Phones rang constantly, and you could hear "Hello, Special Victims, how can I help you?" everywhere. Everyone arrived, left their belongings in their lockers, and began reviewing the papers from yesterday, the day before, and so on. The more days passed, the bigger the piles grew.
The coffee machine was fully operational—the same one from several years ago, the one everyone wondered how on earth was still working. The detectives sat at their desks with eyes more closed than open, yet magically holding and moving their pens between their fingers.
Captain Cragen was in his office, as grumpy as always, sighing and looking with listlessness at anyone who walked through his door. He had several files on his desk, of different colors and thicknesses. Some could wait, and others needed immediate attention. That is why he called his best detectives to give him a hand.
— "I need to finish the Helena Wolsh case once and for all," said Cragen sternly. — "Any leads?"
— "The suspect refuses to give a DNA sample, and we don't have enough evidence to request a warrant," Olivia replied with fatigue hidden in her voice.
— "We also investigated his phone calls, but we didn't find anything," added Munch, who was barely sitting on the desk.
— "There is a possibility that the victim had two phones," Stabler said.

No repitas información innecesariamente.
