Hawkins, Indiana - Fall 1986
I’m Lara, 16 years old, and I go to Hawkins High. I’m supposed to worry about exams, the dance... and surviving high school.
But in Hawkins, problems are on another level.
There are monsters. There are portals. And there’s a place called "The Upside Down," which is like our town, but dead, cold, and full of vines.
I have the Party: Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas. We have walkie-talkies and one rule: friends don’t lie.
And then there’s him.
Eddie Munson. The one from the Hellfire Club. The long hair, the denim jacket, and the guitar solos. The whole town says he’s a freak. I say he’s the only one who understands me.
We started by talking about D&D and music. Now he waits for me after class. He lends me his jacket when it’s cold. And when the lights flicker, I’m the one he looks for.
Warning: In Hawkins, falling in love is dangerous too. Because when something comes from the Upside Down... it takes what you care about most.
